Tonye Cole is a co‐founder and executive director of the Sahara Group, an energy conglomerate that spans the entire energy chain in Nigeria to neighbouring West African countries and beyond.
An architecture alumnus of the University of Lagos and Harvard Business School's Advanced Management Program, Tonye, together with his partners, has grown Sahara from a single entity founded in 1996 to a leading energy and infrastructure conglomerate with 11-digit USD annual turnover and presence in eight countries on four continents, employing over 4,000 people.
Tonye is an active member of the World Economic Forum's Global Advisory Council for Energy and has been appointed to the UN's Sustainable Development Fund (SDG-F) private sector advisory group.
His passion for youth development and giving back to the less privileged led to the establishment of his foundation, the Nehemiah Youth Empowerment Initiative, through which he regularly supports other foundations like the Down Syndrome Society, Slum2School Foundation and Bethesda School for the Blind. Tonye also serves on the advisory boards of various youth-focused charities such Africa 2.0.
We are proud to have him as a member of our Advisory Committee, and he is a true inspiration to our Sapinda Rainbow Ambassadors.
