In October 2015, The Sapinda Rainbow Foundation organised a Global Fundraising Party, welcoming the arrival of the IchorCoal yacht to Cape Town, after successfully completing leg 2 of the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race edition 2015-16.
After the VIP cocktails and canapés, the doors opened to the general public and around 800 guests celebrated together at the beautiful setting of the Grand Café & Beach in Cape Town. The entertainment line-up consisted of DJ Rene, the Cape’s favourite French DJ, a number of local artists including our own Sapinda Rainbow Ambassador Mbongiseni Dludlu aka Hitman CEO, and of course multi-award winning, breakthrough DJ of 2015, DJ Black Coffee as the main act.
The party was open to a global audience via an exclusive BE-AT.TV streaming. We reached over half a million people on social media and around 6,000 people from around the globe joined the live-stream.
Entry and streaming were free of charge. 100% of the donations went straight to The Ndlovu Care Group, to support their ground-breaking research for HIV/AIDS in rural South Africa.
